Beef Short Ribs

This is one of my absolute favorite dishes. It’s super easy to make and it’s rich and flavorful for a cold winter night.

Beef Short Ribs
2 pounds beef short ribs, with bones in
1 cup sliced onion
3 crushed garlic cloves
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
1 cup red wine
1 small can tomato sauce
4-5 sprigs fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
enough beef broth or water to cover

Brown the short ribs in a pan with a little bit of oil.

Crock pot instructions:
Place short ribs in warmed crock pot, place in onion and garlic, cover with worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, wine, thyme, pepper and the broth or water enough to cover. Place on high for 8 hours or low for 10-12 hours.

Oven instructions:
Place short ribs in baking dish or oven safe pot and cover with onion, garlic, worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, wine, thyme, pepper and broth or water to come up to top of the ribs. Cover with foil and bake at 250 for 4 hours. Check often to make sure there is enough liquid.

Serve with mashed potatoes and use cooking liquid as gravy. You can reduce down the liquid if there is too much or it is too thin or you can use it to make regular gravy.
